SKIN TAGS

The causes of skin tags vary and sometimes they may appear for seemingly no specific reason. However, there are certain risk factors that may make it more likely that you will get skin tags. Age is a major factor in your susceptibility to skin tags; people who are older than middle age are more likely to suffer from skin tags. Skin tags also commonly appear on those who are overweight. Pregnant women are also more susceptible to skin tags. People with diabetes may also be at a greater risk for skin tags.
Skin tags usually appear in areas where skin rubs against skin, which is why they commonly appear in areas such as the neck, eyelids, armpits, groin, and underneath or around breasts. They can also grow in other areas such as the back and chest. PIGMENTATION

Pigmentation means coloring. Skin pigmentation disorders affect the color of your skin. Your skin gets its color from a pigment called melanin. Special cells in the skin make melanin. When these cells become damaged or unhealthy, it affects melanin production. Some pigmentation disorders affect just patches of skin. Others affect your entire body.

If your body makes too much melanin, your skin gets darker. Pregnancy, Addison’s disease, and sun exposure all can make your skin darker. If your body makes too little melanin, your skin gets lighter. Vitiligo is a condition that causes patches of light skin. Albinism is a genetic condition affecting a person’s skin. A person with albinism may have no color, lighter than normal skin color, or patchy missing skin color. Infections, blisters and burns can also cause lighter skin.

ICHTHYOSIS

Many things can leave your skin dry and flaky, from cold air to the chlorine in swimming pools. In a small number of people, a group of diseases called ichthyosis causes skin dryness and scaling.

It can’t be cured, but treatments can relieve the scaling and make you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Ichthyosis is not one disease, but a family of about 20 skin conditions that lead to dry skin. People with this condition lose the protective barrier that keeps moisture in their skin. They also make new skin cells too quickly or shed old cells too slowly. This leads to a buildup of thick, scaly skin.

The condition gets its name from the Greek word for fish, because the skin looks like fish scales. For treatments of all skin, hair and nail ailments visit our clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai.Call 9004839333 for appointments.

FUNGAL NAILS

In normal, healthy people, fungal infection of the nails are most commonly caused by fungus that is caught from moist, wet areas. Communal showers, such as those at a gym or swimming pools, are common sources. Going to nail salons that use inadequate sanitization of instruments (such as clippers, filers, and foot tubs) in addition to living with family members who have fungal nails are also risk factors. Athletes have been proven to be more susceptible to nail fungus. This is presumed to be due to the wearing of tight-fitting, sweaty shoes associated with repetitive trauma to the toenails. Having athlete’s foot makes it more likely that the fungus will infect your toenails. Repetitive trauma also weakens the nail, which makes the nail more susceptible to fungal infection.

Elderly people and people with certain underlying disease states are also at higher risk. These include anything that impairs your immune system can make you prone to getting infected with the fungus. These include conditions such as AIDS, diabetes, cancer, psoriasis or taking any immunosuppressive medications like steroids.Visit our clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra  in Mumbai for all  skin, hair  and nail ailments.Call 9004839333  for  appointments.

DANDRUFF

Dandruff is a condition marked by flakes of dry skin on the scalp. The flakes can often fall from your hair and land on your shoulders. Dandruff usually results from a dry scalp. If this is the cause, the flakes are typically small and you may have dry skin on other parts of your body.Washing your hair with a harsh shampoo or using a lot of chemicals on your hair can sometimes irritate your scalp and lead to flakes.A fairly common condition called seborrheic dermatitis is the cause of many dandruff cases. It’s characterized by patches of red and oily skin that leave yellowish flakes on the scalp. These flakes are often larger than dandruff flakes that occur from dry skin. Seborrheic dermatitis can also cause flaky, irritated patches elsewhere on your body, which may lead you to think you have psoriasis. For all skin, hair and nail ailments visit our clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai.Call 9004839333 for appointments.

Folliculitis  is an inflammation of the hair follicles. Each hair on your body grows out of a tiny pouch called a follicle. You can have folliculitis on any part of your body that has hair. But it is most common on the beard area, arms, back, buttocks, and legs. You are more likely to get folliculitis if you:

  • Use a hot tub, whirlpool, or swimming pool that is not properly treated with chlorine.
  • Wear tight clothes.
  • Use or work with substances that can irritate or block the follicles. Examples include makeup, cocoa butter, motor oil, tar, and creosote.
  • Have an infected cut, scrape, or surgical wound. The bacteria or fungi can spread to nearby hair follicles.

SKIN REJUVENATION

Sun, skin disorders, aging and even heredity can all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and elsewhere on the body. These include textural irregularities like wrinkles and acne scars, pigmentation changes like freckles and sunspots, or visible blood vessels.

In addition, skin may lose tone, feel less firm, and certain areas of the body may develop cellulite conditions.

Conditions that can be treated with skin rejuvenation and resurfacing include:

  • Static wrinkles: These wrinkles are visible at all times and do not change in appearance with facial movements
  • Dynamic wrinkles: These are expression lines that may appear as folds when the skin is not moving, and deepen with facial movements or expressions
  • Pigmentation: Freckles, sun spots, or other darkened patches of skin result mainly from sun exposure
  • Scars: As the result of acne or injury to the skin, scars may be rolling (a wavy appearance to the skin), pitted, discolored, or have raised borders
  • Vascular conditions: Blood vessels visible on the surface of the skin, vascular lesions that appear as tiny blood-filled blisters or even a constant flush of facial redness
  • Loss of skin tone: Weakening of the supportive skin structures (collagen and elastin fibers) that result in a loss of skin firmness or the development of cellulite. For  appointments and queries call 9004839333.Clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra.Sun, skin disorders, aging and even heredity can all contribute to skin irregularities on the face and elsewhere on the body. SKIN TAGS

Skin tags are invariably benign – non cancerous – tumors of the skin which cause no symptoms, unless it is repeatedly rubbed or scratched, as may happen with clothing, jewelry, or when shaving. Very large skin tags may burst under pressure.

Skin tags are benign, asymptomatic skin tumors, often raised from the skin on fleshy peduncles.

Skin tags are composed of a core of fibers and ducts, nerve cells, fat cells, and a covering or epidermis.

Some people inherit an increased susceptibility to skin tags, and being obese or overweight also appears to increase the likelihood of developing this skin anomaly. Skin tags affect people of all genders equally, but are more likely to occur in people who are pregnant and/or who have diabetes.

  • Insect stings
  • Medicines

Normally, your immune system fights germs. It is your body’s defense system. In most allergic reactions, however, it is responding to a false alarm. Genes and the environment probably both play a role.It is necessary to visit a board certified dermatologist for Allergy treatment.Call 9004839333 for appointments.Clinics at Malad,Juhu and Bandra in Mumbai.
